Margo
Padilla
Margo Padilla received her
Master’s of Library and Information Science degree with a concentration in
Management, Digitization and Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Records from
San Jose State University in 2011. During the course of her program, she became
dedicated to digital stewardship because of the important role it will play in
documenting American History. As she
explains it, “Compared to the documented histories of other countries,
America’s history will be largely digital and I believe it is our
responsibility to preserve and make it accessible for future generations.”
After graduating, she
accepted a position with The Bancroft Library at the University of California,
Berkeley as the Digital Project Archivist on a National Park Service grant to
create a digital archive of the Japanese American Evacuation and Relocation Study records.
She is currently the NDSR
at University of Maryland Libraries and the Maryland Institute for Technology in
the Humanities where she is researching and developing an access model that
will better enable researchers to discover and use born-digital collections.
