Jaime McCurry

Originally from Seaford, New York, Jaime has a Master of Library and Information Science and a B.A. in English Literature from Long Island University. For Jaime, working at The Folger Shakespeare Library is the perfect opportunity to make an impact in digital preservation while working directly with the literature she loves. As a resident she is working to establish local routines and best practices for archiving and preserving the institution’s digital content.

Her work predominantly deals with born-digital materials. Jaime will be working with the Folger’s Digital Media and Publications division along with their Central Library staff to assess the digital preservation needs of various Folger departments. She will be working with existing Folger web archive collections to improve search and use functionality. She will also create new web archive collections as needed and will draft and propose an official institutional web archiving policy. Additionally, Jaime will be compiling a file format inventory for digital materials in the Folger’s Theatre and production departments. This inventory will supplement research on potential repository solutions for the Folger’s digital media assets. Jaime is conducting her work with the ultimate goal of organizing, preserving, and providing access to the interesting and valuable digital assets that the Folger is collecting and creating for the benefit of Folger audiences.
