Erica
Titkemeyer
Erica Titkemeyer received
her Master of Arts degree in Moving Image Archiving and Preservation from NYU’s
Tisch School of the Arts in 2013. Her focus has primarily been in conducting
audiovisual collection assessments and promoting digital initiatives in
institutions collecting moving images and audio, including Anthology Film
Archives, the Library Special Collections at the American Museum of Natural
History, Tulane University’s Hogan Jazz Archive, and the New York Public
Library. She has also held positions as a contract grant-writer for film
preservation projects, and as an archival footage consultant on a documentary
titled American Communion, focused on the transformation of the US
combat veteran, from Vietnam to Afghanistan.
As the NDSR resident hosted
by the Smithsonian Institution Archives, she is
documenting the specialized requirements that time-based media art imposes on a
trustworthy digital repository, with plans to produce best practices and
implementation guidance, and to participate in the application of these
practices in archives and museums across the Smithsonian.
